Overview

Overview Image

HoloHunt is a mobile game available on both Android and iOS that blends the digital and physical worlds through augmented reality (AR). When players, known in‑game as Seekers, look through the Aether Lens (the game’s AR camera), they see virtual objects called augments anchored to real‑world locations around them.

A large share of these augments appear as mysterious Eggs. Cracking an Egg can reward a Seeker with in‑game items, points, and, on rare occasions, gift vouchers that can be redeemed for real goods or discounts. Tracking down and collecting Eggs is the heart of HoloHunt’s gameplay loop, turning everyday walks into light‑hearted treasure hunts.

Periodically, the HoloHunt team hosts special live events in select cities across the globe. During these events, the odds of finding high‑value rewards, especially monetary vouchers, are significantly increased, encouraging local Seekers to gather and hunt together.

Getting Started

HoloHunt is quick to pick up, simply download the app and choose the sign‑in method that suits you best.

Where to Download

The game is free on both stores:
Google Play Store
Apple App Store

Creating Your Account

When you launch HoloHunt for the first time, the game asks you to sign in or create an account. Having an account keeps your progress safe, lets you appear on leaderboards, and enables social features. If you ever decide to leave the game, you can delete your account at any time from Menu → Account Settings → Delete Account, so you stay in control of your data.

HoloHunt supports four sign‑in options:.

Guest Mode

Choose Guest Mode if you want to start playing right away. All you need is a unique username for in‑game identification. Guest accounts can explore the map and collect Eggs, but some perks, such as the referral program, stay locked. You can upgrade later by linking an email address in the Settings menu, which unlocks every feature.

HoloHunt Account

Creating a dedicated HoloHunt account with an email address gives you full access from day one, including referrals. Your credentials are stored securely and handled in line with GDPR best practices.

Google Sign‑In

Google Sign‑In uses your existing Google credentials on both Android and iOS, so there is no new password to remember. This method unlocks the complete feature set.

Sign in with Apple

On iOS, you can log in with your Apple ID. Apple lets you hide your real email address for extra privacy while still enjoying every HoloHunt feature.

Gameplay Basics

This section will covers the basics of the HoloHunt gameplay, including the core game loop and additional gameplay.

Core Game Loop

HoloHunt revolves around a simple treasure‑hunt loop that repeats every Aether Cycle, a period of fourteen days. Seekers open the Aether Lens and explore their surroundings, looking for glowing Nexus Eggs that can appear in parks, plazas, and other public places. Tapping a Nexus Egg in the AR view cracks it open, instantly awarding one random item and between 5 and 50 leaderboard points.

For extra help Seekers can turn on the Nexus Scanner, a map overlay that reveals exact egg locations for thirty minutes every twenty‑four hours. Consuming a Time Capsule item grants an additional thirty‑minute scan.

Collected items may be combined through crafting. The key milestone is building a Temporal Beacon. Activating the beacon adds a button to the screen that highlights the general area of a rare Genesis Egg. Only players with an active beacon can claim a Genesis Egg, even if they happen to find one by chance.

A Genesis Egg offers bigger rewards: either 110–200 points or, during special live events, a gift voucher worth up to €100 (can be converted to local currency with the similar value).

Climbing the Leaderboard

During the first thirteen days of each Aether Cycle, Seekers race to earn as many points as possible. The ten highest‑scoring players qualify for day fourteen, the Exodus Hunt. All ten receive a regional hint that leads to the Exodus Egg. The first qualifier to locate and collect it wins the season and receives a guaranteed €50 voucher.

When the Exodus Hunt ends, the leaderboard resets and a new cycle begins. Inventories remain untouched, so seasoned Seekers start the next cycle with any items they carried over.

Additional Gameplay

Beyond collecting Eggs, HoloHunt offers several side activities that help Seekers earn more items and points.

Mini Game: Nexus Defender

Overview Image

Nexus Defender is a fast AR shooter that can be played indoors. First, place three shimmering portals on the floor in the AR view. When the game begins, alien drones pour out of the portals and fly toward the camera. Tap a drone to shoot it, scoring points in the process. If a drone reaches the camera it explodes and costs one of four lives. The run ends when the timer finishes or all lives are lost. Each session awards a Time Capsule and posts the score to a global Nexus Defender leaderboard.

Seekers can start Nexus Defender in two ways.

  • Arcade Machines: Visit an Arcade Machine augment shown on the map, tap it in AR, and the game loads. You can play once per hour from the same machine
  • Portal Activator item: Consume a Portal Activator in your inventory to launch the game anywhere.

Harvesters

Overview Image

Harvesters are stationary objects that generate leaderboard points over time for whoever owns them. They appear on the map like Eggs. Up close, the AR view shows the harvester's name, its hourly yield, and the cost to claim it. Capturing an unclaimed harvester costs 100 points, which are deducted from your current leaderboard total. Taking a harvester from another player is possible, but the price varies based on the time it has been owned and with any points stored inside.

Owners collect accumulated points from the Harvester list view. If someone else purchases the harvester before you claim its points, the unclaimed total transfers to the new owner.

Referral Program

HoloHunt rewards players who bring friends into the game. Every Seeker has a personal invite link and QR code that leads to a sign‑up page on the HoloHunt website. When a new player registers with the same email they entered on that page, both users receive one Temporal Beacon and one Time Capsule.

For the next ninety days, the referrer also earns extra leaderboard points equal to eighty percent of every point the newcomer gains. For example, if a referred friend collects a Nexus Egg worth 10 points, they keep 10 points and the referrer earns 8 points. You can invite as many friends as you like, but each friend only triggers the item reward once.

Game Components

HoloHunt includes a range of collectables and tools that shape how Seekers explore and compete.

Eggs

Eggs are the main treasure in HoloHunt. Tap an egg in the AR view to open it and collect the rewards inside.

Nexus Egg

Nexus Eggs are the most common eggs in the game. Any Seeker can pick one up without a requirement. Each Nexus Egg grants one random item and between 5 and 50 leaderboard points.

Genesis Egg

Genesis Eggs are rare. You must activate a Temporal Beacon before you can claim one. A Genesis Egg awards between 110 and 200 points and, during special events, may also hold a gift voucher worth up to 100 euro.

Exodus Egg

The Exodus Egg is the rarest egg. It appears only during the Exodus Hunt at the end of an Aether Cycle and can be claimed by the ten Seekers at the top of the leaderboard. The first of those ten to reach the egg receives a guaranteed 50 euro gift voucher.

Items

Items are materials and power ups that let you reach higher tier eggs or speed up scanning. Most items drop from Nexus Eggs. Advanced items must be crafted by combining basic ones.

Prism Shard

A Nexus Core is the second part needed for an Energy Core and, like Prism Shards, is collected from Nexus Eggs.

Note Scroll

Overview Image

A Note Scroll is a basic scroll that later becomes part of a Holo Scroll. It drops from Nexus Eggs.

Holo Light

A Holo Scroll is crafted from one Holo Light and one Note Scroll. It combines with an Energy Core to create a Temporal Beacon.

Temporal Beacon

Overview Image

A Temporal Beacon lets you see a hint for a Genesis Egg and gives you permission to pick it up. Build one with one Energy Core and one Holo Scroll or earn one through the referral program.

Time Capsule

Overview Image

A Time Capsule resets the cooldown of the Nexus Scanner. If the scanner is already active, the capsule adds thirty more minutes. Win capsules by beating Nexus Defender or through the referral program.

Portal Activator

Overview Image

A Portal Activator sends you straight into a round of Nexus Defender. Find activators in Nexus Eggs or receive one as a welcome gift when you log in for the first time.

Energy Charging Zones

Energy Charging Zones reward Seekers who stay near a special augment for ten seconds. You can claim points from a zone once each hour. Zones come in two forms.

Pillars

Pillars are tall glowing structures that rise from the ground in AR. Stand close to a pillar and wait ten seconds to gain its point reward.

Blimps

Blimps float a few meters above the ground. Stand under a blimp for ten seconds to claim its hourly points.

Arcades

Arcades appear in AR as small retro cabinet machines. Tapping an arcade transports you into Nexus Defender. You can play one round per arcade per hour, or use a Portal Activator to start a game from anywhere.

Harvesters

Harvesters are fixed machines that generate leaderboard points over time for their owner. Claim an unowned harvester for 100 points, or pay a higher price to take over one that is already owned and collect any unclaimed points inside it.
